UT 2004 Mac Core Duo Benchmarks

At the request of a few readers, I ran some Unreal Tournament 2004 benchmarks on my 20-inch iMac (1 GB of RAM, 256 MB of video RAM, 1680 x 1050 resolution). The results are astonishing, and on par with what I'd expect from a mid-level PC, but I would like to put something in perpective, and this is a fact most Mac guys don't understand: UT 2004 is not a good game to benchmark. It runs astonishingly well on older PC hardware, even notebooks, and is not a good indication of 3D performance at all (on that note, UT 2004 is still an awesome--and awesome looking--game). We'll want to see how DOOM 3 and Quake 4 perform on the new iMac before making any pronouncements about the true capabilities of this system.

That said, I obtained the following scores using various UT 2004 benchmarks:

DM-Antalus Flyby - 67.65
DM-Asbestos Flyby - 79.44
DM-Antalus Botmatch - 44.79

In all tests, the resolution was set to 1680 x 1050 (the iMac's native resolution) and max settings. There was no sound output on the Flyby benchmarks; sound was active for the botmatch.
