Apple Ranks Fifth in January Notebook Computer Sales

Or does it?

Sure, Bloomberg reported it. And MacObserver and many others simply regurgitated it for your convenience.

The truth is this: Apple ranked fifth in retail notebook sales, in the US only, and excluding some key sellers. Since the number one/two PC maker, Dell, does not sell PCs in the retail market, and because sales at Wal-Mart, the biggest retailer in the US, are not included, this statistic should be taken for what it is: Utter nonsense.

Sorry, I know I'm the jerk for pointing this out. But this is a pointless "statistic" that is being taken as truth.
